Madeniet Yeshekeev

Culture Yeshekeev was born in the village of Kurmangozha, Zhanasemei district, Semipalatinsk region (now East Kazakhstan region) into a loving and singing family. His father, Seitzhan, was a friend of Amre Kashaubayev, who himself sang and taught children. His father's brothers - Zhumaubai, Akbai, Aitan - were also musicians and singers. Performing on stage for culture began in 1955 with participation in the district competition of amateur artists, where he took first place for performing Kazakh folk songs, and also performed with them at the regional competition. At the age of nineteen, he became a laureate of the competition of amateur artists in Almaty. Here he was noticed by Zhusupbek Yeleubekov, a member of the competition jury, an outstanding Kazakh singer, People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR, laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan, and singled him out among other performers. And Madeniet enters the first year of the newly opened Semey Music College


An unexpected invitation from Zhusupbek Yeleubekov to Almaty offered to take part in a tour of Uralsk, Akmola, and Karaganda. The recognition of the audience strengthened his faith in himself and the importance of his work. And in the person of Yeleubekov, Madeniet found a masterful, demanding teacher. This was a school for life.


According to experts, M. Eshekeev, possessing a lyrical tenor, masterfully mastered the technique of performing folk surzhek songs. The songs of the singer Akan and Birzhan, Zhayau Musa and Ybray, Asset and Madiya, Estay and Shashubay, Baluan Sholak and Kenen Azirbayev left an inimitable mark on the song heritage of Kazakhstan. M. Eshekeev continues and develops the traditions of Amre Kashaubayev, Kali Baizhanov, Manarbek Yerzhanov in his work.
