Born on February 12, 1979, in the Abai region (formerly part of East Kazakhstan), in the city of Semey. She graduated from high school with honors and participated in numerous city and national olympiads in the Russian language and literature, becoming a model and pride of her school. Maiya decided on her profession at the age of 12 when she started working as a young journalist for the local newspaper "Pulse of Time."

In 2000, she began working at the "Shahar" television channel, first as a journalist and then as a news presenter. In 2002, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of International Journalism at KazNU. In 2005, Maiya became a journalist and the chief editor of the Almaty "Tañ" television channel. From 2009 until 2011, she hosted a news program on the "Kazakhstan" television channel. In 2010, she was the author and host of the programs "Status Capital" and "Private Territory," as well as the evening news block. In 2012, she worked as a news presenter on "Seventh Channel" and participated in the talk shows "In Other Words," "There is a Solution," and "My Story." In 2016, she was the author and host of the documentary series "Secrets. Destinies. Names" on the "Khabar" television channel. Since 2019, she has been appointed as the general director of "Kazakh TV."
