Karimov Mukhtarbek Karpykuly

Mukhtarbek Karpykuly Karimov (15.01.1951) – Candidate of Historical Sciences, professor, ethnologist, and lecturer at Shakarim State University of Semey. Mukhtarbek Karpykuly was born on January 15, 1951, in the village of Oilishik, Akсуат district of the former Semey region. After graduating from the Faculty of History of S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University in 1975, he began his career as a research worker at the State Central Archive of the Kazakh SSR. From 1986 to 1989, he studied in the graduate school of KazGU and successfully completed it, obtaining the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences. From 1977 to 1996, he worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, and head of the Department of Social Sciences at Semey Zoo Institute; from 1996 to 2000, he was the head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences at the State Financial Institute opened in Semey; from 2001 to 2002, he served as the head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan at Semey State University, and from 2001 to 2019, he was the director of the M. Kozybaev Scientific Research Center for Historical Studies at this university, establishing close scientific ties with research centers in the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China, the Mongolian People's Republic, and domestic scientific research centers. M.K. Karimov is a Candidate of Historical Sciences and a professor at Shakarim University.

He is one of the authors of studies such as "The Glorious Commander of the Kazakhs Karakerey Qabanbay," "Abilpeyz," "The Return of Shakarim to His People," "Targybatai," "Historical Toponyms of Abai Region," the collective monograph "Eastern Saryarka. The Present and Future of the Karakara Region," and educational-methodological tools like "The History of Russian, Kazakh, and Western European Economic Thought (Late 19th Century - Early 20th Century)." His articles have been published in scientific journals in Russia, China, Germany, Mongolia, and Bulgaria. He has made significant contributions to identifying the burial place of the glorious commander Karakerey Qabanbay from the 18th century, resulting in the construction of the Qabanbay mausoleum near Astana.

He has been awarded the titles of "Excellence in Education of the Kazakh SSR," "Excellence in Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan," "Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan," and the badge "For Contribution to the Development of Science" for his exceptional contributions to the field of science in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the medal "20th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and the badge "For Contribution to Abai Region." He has received honorary diplomas from the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan signed by N. Nazarbayev, the President of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is the holder of the title "Honorary Citizen of Targybatai District" and a knight of the Order of "Honor."
