Kurchatov City House of Culture (Municipal State Institution)

City House of Culture

The City House of Culture in the city of Kurchatov was first mentioned in April 1994. At that time, a decision was made by the head of the city administration to establish the City House of Culture based on the garrison Officers' House.

However, in the same 1994, a fire occurred in the territory of the former Semipalatinsk test site, completely burning down the building, causing severe damage, and rendering it unusable. As a result, the office of the City House of Culture was temporarily relocated to a two-room apartment at 2 Rozhanovich Street. During that period, the institution was managed by Tatyana Vasilyevna Yezus.

In 1996, a decision was made to allocate half of the building of the City Library located at 7 Pervomayskaya Street for the activities of the City House of Culture. As a result, a hall was equipped for rehearsals and small cultural and leisure events.

It is no exaggeration to say that during those years, professionals working in the field of culture often operated purely out of selflessness and enthusiasm. Despite the lack of a permanent building, insufficient funding, a small number of staff, and a weak material and technical base, the cultural life of the city did not stagnate. A genuine desire for creativity and a strong intention to share the joy of art allowed the specialists and artists of the City House of Culture to organize various cultural and leisure events.

The dance group "Fantasia" under the leadership of Zinaida Matvienko, the dance group "Assorti" led by Olga Chetvergova, the dance group "Shalyai-Valyai" (led by Svetlana Ostapenko), the dance group "Safari" (led by Zhanna Gusakova), soloist Galiya Kanieva, sound operator Maxim Morozov, as well as vocalists Tatyana Akatova, Vladimir Shishov, Igor Makarov, Rimma Doszhanova, Alexander Eroshin, Alexander Popov, Galina Boldyreva, Galina Poletaeva, and the women's vocal group "Rusichi" were regular participants in concerts during those years. These individuals are considered true professionals in their field. Many of them continue to delight audiences with their creativity to this day.

In 1998, restoration work was carried out on the building that housed the former branch of the Officers' House. Financial support for the repair, purchase of furniture, equipment, musical apparatus, audience hall equipment, and stage costumes was provided by the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, whose general director at that time was Yuri Semenovich Cherepnin.

A City House of Culture was opened in Kurchatov. It includes a 350-seat hall, rooms for club activities, and a foyer for holding dance evenings. This opened new opportunities for the realization of the creative potential of the masses. The City House of Culture is managed by Larisa Vasilyevna Babich.

At different times, the House of Culture was headed by Galina Ivanovna Dementyeva, Svetlana Anatolyevna Shmatkova, and Svetlana Viktorovna Pichugina. Each leader contributed to the development of the City House of Culture and supported the creativity of the city's amateur artists. We sincerely thank you for your hard work!

In 2005, a children's vocal studio was opened at the House of Culture, led by Svetlana Nurkova. Svetlana taught children to sing correctly, to place their voices properly, and patiently to master musical notes. Today, her students are regular attendees of our concerts. Asel Nuraskarova honed her skills on stage right here, while Kulaiym Kairbaeva is enhancing her professional education.

Since 2000, the City House of Culture has been operating as a state communal enterprise. The number of employees increased, and new clubs and studios were opened. Among them are the "Nur-Aidar" theater studio (led by Roza Kuchukova), the "Ak-Koger" dance group (led by Svetlana Ostapenko), the Doszhanov family ensemble, performer-dombrist Kuanysh Sadyrbaev, the youth rock group "Shtof," and the folklore group "Raduga."

Since 2005, the City House of Culture has been headed by Gennady Vitalyevich Kondratenko. Today, the doors of the City House of Culture are open to all who wish to realize their creative potential. The following groups and studios operate in the House of Culture:

- The Kazakh folk instruments ensemble "Serper" — led by Kuat Bekenovich Dyusembaev.

- The "Dostar" quartet — led by Kairat Maman.

- The "Kyzgaldakhtar" dance group — led by Rahmetolla Arshin.

The artists of the City House of Culture increasingly participate in regional and national competitions, such as "Tugan zher – altyn besigim," "Beybitshilik elim," "Tugan el – altyn besigim." The family duet of Kairat Maman and Kairat Aray participated in the festive concert "Happy Birthday, Capital" in the city of Astana.
