The "Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum of Semey" municipal state institution of the Aбай region's culture, language development, and archival affairs management, branch in the city of Ayagoz The Ayagoz District Historical and Local Lore Museum was first opened on April 17, 1978, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the city of Ayagoz, in the current city administration building. Stepan Balakhnenko was appointed as the head of the museum. During this period, the local population showed exceptional interest in museum activities. They began to bring various exhibits of steppe geology, archaeology, and ethnography from all around. Those who actively participated in the museum's work included: the chairman of the Ayagoz city executive committee, O. Akhmadiev, and the heads of the district, institutions, and schools at that time, R. Mukhamediarova, S. Shchebalin, K. Baizakova, L. Dmukhovskaya, N. Kasymova, and others. Since then, museum activities have continued. In recent years, it was incorporated into the district education department and moved to the building of that department. For nearly ten years, history teachers led the museum. From there, it became part of the district culture department. Initially functioning only as an exhibition hall, the museum was ceremoniously opened as a branch of the Semey Historical and Local Lore Museum on December 1, 2013. The director of the Semey Historical and Local Lore Museum, B. Temirov, the former district akim, N. Nurgaliev, veterans of the Great Patriotic War – descendant of the hero Aktamberdi, Askap Jumadilov, descendants of the hero Nuraly, Bilis Ospanov, Tursyn Jumанов; veteran teachers – Jamal Karimkyzy, Tansyk Isabekova, Zabira Suleimenova, honorary citizens of the district, Ramazan Nashanov, Kairtay Kazhygulov, Serikhan Kurakbaev, local residents, local craftsmen, and many others have contributed to the museum's collection over the years. The construction of the museum building began in September 2011 and was completed in December 2013. The museum's exhibition includes sections titled "The Land of Greats," "Tribute to Victory," ethnography, and nature. In 2014, the exhibition "From the World of Greats" and the traveling exhibition "In the Flow of History: Travelers and Local Lore Experts" were organized. In 2017, in connection with the "EXPO-2017" International Exhibition, a personal exhibition of local craftsman A. Sarsekeyuly and the exhibition "100 Years of the Alash Party" were organized in the museum's exhibition section. In 2021, the "Nature" exhibition section was ceremoniously opened. The exhibition covers the history of early communal structures, steppe geology, archaeology, paleontology, petroglyphs, minerals, animals and birds inhabiting the region, plants, as well as visual materials and information about sacred places and historical-cultural monuments in the Ayagoz region. About the Fund The total fund of the museum consists of 2,770 storage units, including 939 main and 1,831 additional funds. Items of steppe geology, archaeology, and ethnography were brought and donated to the museum from all sides. From the very first days, the museum has been actively working to promote cultural heritage. Significant contributions to the establishment of the museum were made by: the chairman of the city executive committee of Ayagoz, O. Akhmadiev, and the heads of the district, institutions, and schools of that time, R. Mukhamediarova, S. Shchebalin, K. Baizakova, L. Dmukhovskaya, N. Kasymova. After some time, the museum was transferred to the education department and moved to its building. For 10 years, the museum was led by history teachers from the city's schools, and then it was transferred to the district culture department. Initially, the museum operated as an exhibition hall, and only on December 1, 2013, it was ceremoniously opened as a branch of the Semey Historical and Local Lore Museum with several exhibition halls. Over the years, significant contributions to the museum's collection were made by: Beken Temirov, during his tenure as director of the Semey Historical and Local Lore Museum, N. Nurgaliev, while serving as akim of the Ayagoz District, veterans of the Great Patriotic War: descendant of the hero Aktamberdi – Askap Jumadilov, descendants of the hero Nuraly – Bilis Ospanov and Tursyn Jumанов, veteran educators – Jamal Karimkyzy, Tansyk Isabekova, Zabira Suleimenova, honorary citizens of the district – Ramazan Nashanov, Kairtay Kazhygulov, Serikhan Kurakbaev, as well as local residents and craftsmen. The construction of the museum building, which began in September 2011, was completed in December 2013. The museum has the following exhibition sections: "The Land of Greats," "Tribute to Victory," ethnography, and nature. In 2014, the exhibition "From the World of Greats" and the traveling exhibition "In the Flow of History: Travelers and Local Lore Experts" were organized by the Abai Reserve-Museum "Zhidebay-Borili". In 2017, on the occasion of the "EXPO-2017" International Exhibition, a personal exhibition of artist A. Sarsekeyuly and the exhibition "100 Years of the Alash Party" were organized in the museum's exhibition section. In 2021, the "Nature" exhibition was ceremoniously opened. The exhibition broadly covers the themes of the origin of life on the planet, the emergence of the first settlements, geology, paleontology, minerals, flora and fauna, as well as sacred places, historical and cultural monuments of the Ayagoz region. About the Fund The total fund of the museum consists of 2,770 storage units, of which 939 are the main fund and 1,831 are the scientific auxiliary fund.
