The "Regional Historical and Local History Museum of Semey City" of the Department of Culture, Language Development, and Archives of Aбай Region,

The branch in the village of Urzhar, Urzhar District was established in 2012 on the initiative of the district akim Baurzhan Janakov. The museum's collection is composed of items that reveal the customs and traditions of the nationalities residing in the region. The museum consists of sections: "Archaeology," "Nature of Urzhar – Barkytbela," "History of the Urzhar Region," "Secrets of the Centuries," "Alaş Idea – the Foundation of Independence," "Urzhar Residents during the Great Patriotic War," and "Ethnography."

In 2013, the museum became part of the regional historical and local history museum of Semey city and continued to operate as its branch.

In 2015, a research expedition was organized to the petroglyphs located on the peak of Tarbagatay – Akberli.

In 2016, joint archaeological excavations were conducted with scientists from KazNU on the "Buqpan" hill near the village of Taskesken in Urzhar District, where several beads and four Saka arrows were found.

In 2016, a permanent exhibition on the theme "Alaş and the Idea of Independence" was established in the branch.

In 2017, a permanent exhibition was created in honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of poet and musician A. Naimanbayuly.

In 2017, an exhibition dedicated to local Alaş figure Baltaбек Hajy Baisultanuly, the leader of the national liberation uprising in the region, was created.

In 2017, an exhibition "Chernobyl Veterans" was organized in honor of the district's Chernobyl veterans.

In 2019, a scientific research expedition was organized to the marked stones located on the peak of Akperili Tarbagatay.

In 2022, joint archaeological excavations were conducted with KazNU scientists at the historical site "Naymankala" near the village of Eltai in Urzhar District.

In 2023, the section "Years of the Great Patriotic War" was supplemented with the exhibition "Fearless Partisan," dedicated to the famous partisan and public figure Meshitbay Khasenov.

The total collection of the museum consists of 4888 storage units, including 963 in the main fund and 3925 in the scientific auxiliary fund.
