The Nevzorov Family Regional Museum of Fine Arts, under the Department of Culture, Language Development, and Archives of the Abai Region, was established in 1985. Today, it is one of the major places in Kazakhstan that collects fine art values. Although the museum's collection is relatively small, it generates significant interest for both art lovers and professionals in terms of its composition and artistic value.

In the museum's collecting activities, the collection of Kazakh fine arts holds a special place. Since its early days, the museum has established close ties with the leading artists and art historians of our country, resulting in the accumulation of a collection that informs about the fine arts of our Republic. The museum's collection contains about 5,500 works of art, over 2,500 of which tell about Kazakh fine arts.

The exhibition sufficiently showcases the development of Russian art from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. A small section of European art painting and graphics from the late 16th century to the early 20th century also generates great interest.

The museum's exhibition concludes with the art of Russia, Central Asia, Georgia, Armenia, and Belarus from the 20th century.

The essence of the museum is defined by pre-revolutionary Russian art. The exhibition features works by major masters who defined the development of Russian artistic culture. This was facilitated by the donation made by the Nevzorov family to the museum in 1988. Yuliy Vladimirovich Nevzorov, his wife Antonina Mikhailovna, and their daughter Yuliya Yuryevna donated over 500 works of Russian, Soviet, and foreign art.

The history of the Nevzorov family collection dates back to the 19th century. Y.V. Nevzorov enriched and supplemented the paintings inherited from his grandfather and father. Yuliy Vladimirovich himself contributed to the current exhibition's appearance. A passionate, tireless collector who appreciates art delicately and highly, he organized the materials accumulated over many years and entrusted all the information to the museum's collection, thus providing scientific research assistance. In 1991, the museum was named after the Nevzorov family.

In 1995, Y.V. Nevzorov was awarded the "Parasat" Order for his significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan's culture.

From the very first day, the museum has been engaged in collecting. As a result, works of Russian, foreign, and contemporary art from private collections in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Almaty have been added to the museum's collection.

The museum staff conducts extensive scientific research. The museum's mass educational activities are not limited to the Abai region. Exhibitions from the museum's collection have been presented to audiences in our capital city, Astana, as well as in major cities such as Almaty, Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Petropavlovsk, and many other regions. The museum hosts a lecture hall, an art lovers' club, classes for adults titled "Let's Learn to Draw," and a children's art studio, while classical music evenings are held in the concert hall.

The museum's restoration workshop carries out the work of reviving painting works.

The museum is located in a building constructed by the first guild merchant Fyodor Stepanov in the 1870s. This construction was completed in the 1910s. The interior of the ancient building is filled with the historical atmosphere and serene tranquility that suits the museum. We are confident that it will bring joy to art appreciators who come to the museum through the beauty of its offerings.
